Because Of Winn-Dixie
By Kate DiCamillo
I thought this book was good but not usually the type of book I would read. It has good storytelling but doesn't have a lot of action scenes. When I was reading it I felt bored sometimes because nothing excited was happening in that part. I liked this book because it always had questions running wild in my head. It is a book about a girl named Opal that just moved to a new town with her father. She feels very alone because she has no friends and her father is spending to much time on his job and not enough on her. Then she encounters a dog named Winn-Dixie and he changes her life. One of the things I most disliked about this book is I felt it took too long to get the climax and that the climax was really the only part with a lot of action and was exciting. The book itself is more intriguing than excited. One of the things I liked most about the book was how it always made me guess if something were to happen next or what was happing with a character that made him/her the way they are. I also liked how they kept teasing the return of a certain character and the result of the tease. All things considered, I would say the good thing outweighs the bad and it wasn't perfect so I think a 4-star rating if fair.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
By ROALD DAHL
"You should never, never doubt something no one is sure of." When Willy Wonka, world's most acclaimed chocolatier, shut down his famous chocolate factory - he seemed to vanish off the face of the earth! That is, until one miraculous day, when Willy Wonka himself wrapped five Golden Tickets, "keys" to Willy Wonka's exclusive tour to his chocolate factory, within his signature scrumptious chocolate bars.. and Charlie, a starving boy with a diet consisting of only cabbage soup and no luck whatsoever, is eager to get his hands on one of them. Unfortunately, the honor of finding them is presented to four perfectly horrid children, and Charlie seems out of luck - until he spots a speck of gold behind his creamy chocolate bar. He's done it! But little does Charlie know that this is just the beginning of his grand adventures, for Willy Wonka himself teases a very special prize for only one of the five children - and all of the children desperately want to be the winner. Will it be one of the four horrid, spoiled, gum-obsessed children? Or will it be Charlie himself? To find out, join Willy Wonka and the five children on a wondrous adventure involving edible grass, magical gum, nut-killing squirrels, terrifying incinerators, blinding shrink rays, and most importantly, chocolate! This book is undoubtedly magical - Roald Dahl is a splendid writer, one that knows how to write characters well - you can end up physically cheering when villains meet their end. Even though the villains' ends were particularly delectable, overall, this book was quirky and cheerful, with fantastic descriptions of the factory and an appeal for all ages of chocolate fanatics. Who wouldn't end up rooting for the wonderfully insane Willy Wonka - this book left me craving more, and I immediately went off to hunt for the sequel, which was even more deliciously wonderful than the last. Roald Dahl has left us another classic that will both children and adults smile from beginning to end!
Emily Windsnap and the Monster from the Deep
By Liz Kessler
In this adventure, there is adventure ( I had to restate that didn't I? XD), excitement, etc.! Emily moves to a beautiful island in the middle of the Bermuda Triangle, where mer and humans that are in love stay. Emily and Shona wander around the waters, and wander into a cave filled with jewels. They take a jewel out of the wall and find a small cave entrance. At the end, they find a boulder, they push and push, eventually the boulder falls into an opening. Everything starts shaking, and they run! A hairy, blood red, giant tentacle touches Emily. They Have Released The Kraken! The kraken knocks a boat Mandy is on, and they are trapped on an island. When Emily carelessly is flicking her tail, Mandy's dad catches her in a net and pulls her to the island. When Emily and Mandy's eyes meet, it is shocking! Emily, Shona, and Mandy "defeat" the Kraken, and Mandy gets memory drugged and she forgets they were friends! I would HIGHLY recommend this book for everyone! The higher the books in this series you get, the more advanced the words get, but keep reading the story! I hope you enjoy the book as much as I did and feel the same way about the Emily Windsnap Series!!!!!!!!😃😃☺️☺️❤️🐚🐙
